Location scouting for Transformers 2 is reportedly under way, with Detroit, Michigan -- home of Transformers auto provider General Motors -- among two of the U.S. cities being considered.

Comics2Film.com reports (via Michigan.gov) that Transformers 2 was among six new scripts submitted to the Michigan Film Advisory Commission within the last month.

C2F also points out a pair of articles at Philly.com that claim that Transformers 2 will lens in Philadelphia this spring and summer. Location scouts for the production "recently were intrigued by the Masonic Temple, across from City Hall. Specific attention was paid to the Egyptian Room."

Philly.com also reveals that Transformers 2 director Michael Bay "was spotted yesterday on the campuses of the University of Pennsylvania and Girard College." Sounds like the sequel will see Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) having graduated high school and now attending college.
